Kundalini Yoga as Taught By Yogi Bhajan
Yoga is an ancient set of techniques designed to get us working in harmony with ourselves. It delivers benefits for the mind and the body - something different from normal exercise. It changes the way we react to things and as we change we gain insight into how we function physically and emotionally and how these two aspects of ourselves are related - the mind/body connection.
Kundalini Yoga was brought to the west by Yogi Bhajan in the late 1960's and has been spreading throughout the western world ever since. It differs from most other forms of yoga in using faster acting techniques which are unusual, surprising even.
What Can It Do For Me?
The benefits of Kundalini Yoga can be immense. The more work you put in the
more you gain. The first level benefits are:-
- Increased fitness and flexibility
- Reduction in anxiety
- Improved ability to deal with stress
Health Benefits
Stress unbalances our bodies systems.
Tense muscles and an over-excited nervous system are the most obvious imbalances
but other systems are interfered with too
such as the respiratory (breathing) system , endocrine (glandular) system
and lymphatic system (removal of toxins).
Yoga affects us at a deeper level than normal excercise, it stimulates
these systems into enhanced operation using an
understanding of the relationships between them. This gives an all over
improved sense of well being. Health problems that are caused by or made
worse by stress can be alleviated by yoga. I used the Alexander Technique
and yoga to recover from RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury).
